Tony Klinger is a writer & filmmaker. His spectacular career follows in the prestigious footsteps of his superstar film producer father, the late Michael Klinger, who made films such as the classic “Get Carter voted the best British film ever by Time Out magazine.
Recently Tony received Romford’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” which joins his many other accolades. He writes novels, film scripts and plays. His novel “Under God’s Table” and his book about making his film, “The Kids are Alright” – “The Who and I” are now on sale. The second edition of another of his novels, “The Butterfly Boy” was published in late 2019. And his next exciting novel, “Alsatia – The Search for the Treasure” will be released in 2020.
During a long and successful career as a film maker Klinger was either line producer or a similar role for films such as “Gold”, “Shout at the Devil”, “Rachel’s Man”, “The Barcelona Kill” and many others, working with stars such as Lee Marvin, Roger Moore, Michael Caine, The Who, Vincent Price, Mickey Rooney, Deep Purple and many others.
Tony’s latest film production, “The Man Who Got Carter” has won awards at Romford, Bristol and Chichester Film Festivals and he has also co-produced and directed “Solo2Darwin” filmed across Europe and the Middle East and Executive Produced “Sisters” shot in Kabul, Afghanistan and both are in post-production.
Klinger also wrote the “book” for “The Show Must Go On” a theatrical musical. Other scripts for the films including “Just a Boy” and the trilogy ‘The Havana Chronicles’ plus “Reaper’s Shadow” are in development. The podcast version of this script is to be recorded this summer. His first play, “A Tired Heart and the Big C” successfully premiered in the Castle Theatre, Wellingborough in 2016.
He launched two new ventures, Give-Get-Go and Pitch Perfect Projects recently to general acclaim.
In a career that spans being an academic, business leader, film-maker and writer Klinger simply calls himself a storyteller.
